PCE-5000 Ultrasonic / UCI Hardness Tester Uses the ASTM A1038 ultrasonic contact impedance (UCI) method for metal and alloy hardness testing

PCE-5000 is a portable hardness tester that uses the ASTM A1038 ultrasonic contact impedance (UCI) method to measure the hardness of metals and alloys with a minimum thickness of 2 mm / .08 in. Ultrasonic hardness testing is considered nondestructive, as it creates a microscopic indentation only visible when using a high-powered microscope.

Featuring a quick 2-second measurement time, this UCI hardness tester is the ideal tool for weld inspection, hardness control of metal coatings and hardness measurement of fine-grained metals, small forgings, cast materials, heat-affected zones, ion-nitrided stamping dies and molds, forms, presses, thin-walled structures and parts, bearings, tooth flanks, pipes, tanks, steel sheets and products with intricate or complex shapes.

Additional measuring sensors can be connected to the ultrasonic meter, which vary in their test force, which is applied to measure the hardness. The different sensors measure the hardness of the objects depending on the roughness of their surface. For example, the standard sensor with 20 N measures surfaces with a roughness of less than 5 µm. The 10 N sensor measures a roughness of less than 3.2 µm and the one with 98 N measures a roughness of less than 15 µm.

– Measures the hardness of metals and alloys with a minimum thickness of 2 mm / .08 in
– Displays measurements in Rockwell A (HRA), Rockwell B (HRB), Rockwell C (HRC), Brinell (HB), Vickers (HV) and MPa (N/mm²) SI units
– Measuring range: 61 … 85.6 HRA, 41 … 100 HRB, 20.3 … 68 HRC, 85 … 650 HB, 50 … 999 HV, 255 … 2180 MPa (N/mm²)
– Accuracy: ± 1.5 HR, ± 3% HB, ± 3% HV
– Stores up to 2000 measurement groups / 20 calibration sets to memory
– Provides measurements in just 2 seconds
– Probe fits into small spaces and hard-to-reach places
– Features a large and easy-to-read LCD screen, simple calibration and an RS-232 interface

according to the transit time difference method / For determining flow velocity and flow / Measurement method for liquids that are as homogeneous as possible

This is a portable handheld clamp-on ultrasonic flow tester used for non-invasive, unobstructed and highly accurate measurements of the flow velocity of liquids in metal, plastic and rubber pipes and tubes with a diameter of 20 … 108 mm / approx. 3/4 … 4″ and 57 … 720 mm / approx. 2 … 28″. Ideal for use in oil and gas, water and wastewater, chemical, food and beverage, pharmaceutical, metals and mining, pulp and paper, power and heating, ventilation, air conditioning and refrigeration (HVACR) industries, this ultrasonic flow meter features user-friendly velcro-strap clamps that allow for quick and easy repositioning of the electroacoustic transducers.

Measurable liquids include: acetate, acetone, alcohol, ammonia, aniline, benzene, butyrate, chloroform, ethanol, ethyl alcohol, ethyl ether, ethylene glycol, freon R 12, petrol, glycerin, glycol, isobutanol, isobutane, isopentane, kerosene, linseed oil, methanol, methyl alcohol, engine oil, diesel oil, olive oil, peanut oil, paraffin oil, pentane, petroleum, 1-propanol, coolant, lubricating oil, silicone oil, transformer oil, trichlorethylene, 1, 1, 1 – trichloroethane, turpentine, distilled water and sea water.

Calculation of flow velocity according to the transit-time principle follows the equation:

v = measured velocity
T1 = run time of the ultrasonic signal in the flow direction
T2 = run time of the ultrasonic signal against the flow direction
L = length of the ultrasonic wave
α = ultrasonic signal angle to the flow

The transit-time principle requires pipes to be full and have no bubbles and no particles.

Each meter is assembled and calibrated by PCE Instruments in Germany. Therefore, a factory calibration certificate is provided by PCE Germany in the delivery contents of the meter. The certificate includes one measuring point on two different pipes. The reference display of the in-house test stand used by PCE for calibration has a valid DAkkS calibration certificate. This ensures traceability to the Physikalisch-Technische Bundesanstal (PTB) German national standard. Please note that because the meter’s measured values depend upon the pipe geometry, material and coating; the medium type, temperature and speed; and the sensor type and measuring method, these parameters are listed on the supplied certificate for maximum traceability.

UCI hardness tester PCE-3000 series Mobile UCI hardness tester / hardness scales HRC, HB and HV / NDT device for measuring tensile strength Rm suitable / / for parts up to a thickness of 1 mm

The UCI hardness tester PCE-3000 can be used for quickly checking the hardness of components even after installation. The device offers a wide measurement range, easy handling, robust design and a temperature resistance up to -20 ° C. In addition to the hardness in Rockwell, Brinell and Vickers, the UCI hardness tester can test the tensile strength of steels up to 1740 MPa. The UCI hardness tester comes standard with a manual probe with a test force of 50N, with this probe can be measured independent of direction from all directions with no correction factor.

Another advantage of the hardness tester is its NDT property. There is a Vickers diamond, which is excited in the ultrasonic frequency range at the probe tip. Touching the diamond to the specimen surface dampens the vibrations. The resulting frequency shift is directly related to the surface hardness of the test piece. Due to the low test loads, the penetration depth of the diamond is very low, which is why only an almost invisible impression remains.

The UCI hardness tester is therefore used for the control of small thin-walled components, for surface hardened specimens or nitrided components. The hardness tester has also been effective in the measurement of welds and control of components with complex geometry.

In addition to the UCI method measuring the PCE-3000 can be equipped with a rebound probe. This allows the UCI hardness tester can be upgraded to a Rebound hardness testers. So the users of hardness tester are two models to choose from the PCE-3000U with UCI Hardness Tester and the PCE-3000UL, which is complemented by the rebound hardness probe.

The UCI hardness tester PCE-3500 has been designed for the non-destructive hardness measurement of metallic components. The UCI hardness tester works on the basis of the Ultrasonic Contact Impedance test procedure. This UCI procedure works as follows: a Vickers diamond at the probe is stimulated with its self-resonance. By pushing the probe, the vibration frequency is reduced depending on the hardness of the surface and on the e module of the material and of the contact surface. The hardness of the surface can be determined on the basis of the frequency shift, taking the characteristic curve of the material into consideration.

The UCI hardness tester works non-destructively. There is a microscopically slight pressure against the surface, however, this is normally not visible. Due to the low penetration depth of the Vickers diamond, this UCI hardness tester is especially suitable for edge layer hardened components such as, for example, those that emerge when nitriding or induction hardening. It is typically used for punching tools, presses, thin-walled components, cog wheels, turbine blades, camshafts or weld seams. The UCI hardness tester is also suitable for many other hardness testing applications. It has exchangeable probes with different pressure forces and can therefore cover diverse applications.

After measuring the hardness of a component, the UCI hardness tester PCE-3500 shows different statistical values such as the MAX / MIN values and average values. Moreover, the standard deviation and further coefficients can be determined. A bar chart can be indicated. Since the UCI hardness tester is equipped with an internal memory, the measured data can be evaluated by means of a software.

Ultrasonic Flow Tester Kit PCE-TDS 100HSH incl. Ultrasonic Thickness Tester & ISO Calibration Certificates
according to the time difference method / for determining flow velocity and flow rate / Measuring method for liquids that are as homogeneous as possible

The ultrasonic flow tester is required as part of a control measurement or for quickly determining the flow in a pipeline and is therefore a portable / easy-to-install measuring system. The ultrasonic flow meter works according to the transit time difference method. The measuring principle of the ultrasonic flow meter is quite simple.

Measuring a pipe obliquely with the flow takes less time than measuring against the flow. The stronger the current, the longer it takes to fight it and the faster you go with it. The difference between the flow times with the flow or against it therefore depends directly on the flow velocity of the river. The ultrasonic flow meter uses this effect to determine flow velocity and flow rate.

Electro-acoustic transducers (“piëzo effect”) send and receive short ultrasonic pulses through the medium flowing in the pipe. The transducers are offset in the longitudinal direction on both sides of the measuring tube. The non-destructive sensors are placed on the pipe and e.g. attached with a cable tie. The display shows the flow velocity within a short time. The ultrasonic flow meter can be used to measure on metallic pipes, plastic pipes or rubber pipes.

Measurable liquids
Acetate, acetone, alcohol, ammonia, aniline, benzene, butyrate, chloroform, ethanol, ethyl alcohol, ether, ethyl ether, ethylene glycol, Freon R12, gasoline, glycerin, glycol, isobutanol, isobutane, isopentane, kerosene, linseed oil, methanol, methyl alcohol, motor oil , Diesel oil, olive oil, peanut oil, paraffin oil, pentane, petroleum, 1-propanol, coolant, lubricating oil, silicone oil, transformer oil, trichlorethylene, 1,1,1 – trichloroethane, turpentine, distilled water, sea water.

Ultrasonic Material Thickness Gauge with a measuring range of 1.0 … 200 mm / integrated calibration block / Interface cables and software(optional) / adjustable sound speed

The ultrasonic material thickness meter is a compact measuring device for metals, glass and homogeneous plastics. This ultrasonic testing device works with an external ultrasonic probe, this probe guides ultrasonic waves into the material to be tested. Different materials transmit ultrasound at different speeds, so you can select different ultrasound speeds on the ultrasound tester.

With the thickness gauge, you can determine the material thicknesses of metal, glass and plastics and other homogeneous materials in seconds. The operation on the ultrasonic testing device is very easy using the seven buttons. This measuring device can be calibrated on site with little effort using the integrated calibration block. All measured values can be transferred to the PC and analyzed using the optionally available software. The software also offers the option of exporting the data to Microsoft Excel.

Ultrasonic Flow Tester PCE-TDS 100HS+-ICA incl. Thermometer & ISO Calibration Certificates
according to the transit time difference method / For determining flow velocity and flow / Measurement method for liquids that are as homogeneous as possible

This is a portable handheld clamp-on ultrasonic flow tester used for non-invasive, unobstructed and highly accurate measurements of the flow velocity of liquids in metal, plastic and rubber pipes and tubes with a diameter of 20 … 108 mm / approx. 3/4 … 4 in. Ideal for use in oil and gas, water and wastewater, chemical, food and beverage, pharmaceutical, metals and mining, pulp and paper, power and heating, ventilation, air conditioning and refrigeration (HVACR) industries, this ultrasonic flow meter features user-friendly velcro-strap clamps that allow for quick and easy repositioning of the electroacoustic transducers.

Measurable liquids include: acetate, acetone, alcohol, ammonia, aniline, benzene, butyrate, chloroform, ethanol, ethyl alcohol, ethyl ether, ethylene glycol, freon R 12, petrol, glycerin, glycol, isobutanol, isobutane, isopentane, kerosene, linseed oil, methanol, methyl alcohol, engine oil, diesel oil, olive oil, peanut oil, paraffin oil, pentane, petroleum, 1-propanol, coolant, lubricating oil, silicone oil, transformer oil, trichlorethylene, 1, 1, 1 – trichloroethane, turpentine, distilled water and sea water.

Calculation of flow velocity according to the transit-time principle follows the equation:

v = measured velocity

– ideal for retrofitting
– installation without process interruption
– easy assembly
– accurate and reliable
– no pressure loss
– maintenance-free, no moving parts
– wear-free
– portable devices for control measurements
– incl. ISO calibration certificates
