The universal process controller PCE-RE82 can be used to control temperature or other physical variables such as pressure, humidity or level. The analog input of this universal controller can process the various common signals and is freely scalable. Using the digital inputs, for example, a PLC control can influence the universal controller.
The universal controller offers four outputs, which can be assigned different tasks depending on the application. In addition to the control function, they can also be used as signal or alarm outputs. Due to two internal control loops, each control parameter, a three-point control can also be implemented. The setpoint of the universal controller can be controlled by three sources. In addition to a fixed setpoint by the operator, this can also be controlled via the optional additional analogue input.
As a third possibility, programs with 15 segments each can be stored in the internal memory of the universal controller, according to which the command variable is controlled. Furthermore, four different parameter sets can also be defined for the PID control, which are then used by the user or as a function of the setpoint for the control. A parameter set can be assigned to each segment in the program mode.
The man-machine interface consists, on the one hand, of four keys on the front side, which serve to parameterize the universal controller. To display the measured values and other parameters, the universal controller is equipped with two 4-digit 7-segment displays. These are supported by two different color bargraphs, which can display different sizes of the control process. The current switching state of the outputs is indicated by LEDs.
Temperature controllers are used wherever process variables have to be monitored and controlled in a controlled manner. The universal input can be used for almost all process signals and sensor types. For example, when changing the sensors, the temperature controller can still be used and no new device is required.
This saves costs and time in the operational process, since only the characteristic has to be changed. Universal controllers are also used in mobile measurement and control systems where a certain control process runs for a certain period of time and the conditions change after a while. The temperature controller can be used in many process areas thanks to the various input types and output conditions such as continuous and discontinuous control.
